1. "I Wanna Iguana" Read Aloud This video is a great introduction or hook for students to begin to understand the power of persuasion. A discussion surrounding the strategies of how the little boy attempts to win his mom over can lead to understanding your audience. |
2. Persuasive Writing for Kids: What Is It? This short Powtoon quickly demonstrates for students the basics of persuasive writing. What is it? Why would I use it? How can I try it? It would be a good discussion-starter after viewing I Wanna Iguana as well. |

3. How to Change the World (a work in progress) by the Kid President This video is an engaging way to get students analyzing what the Kid President is trying to "convince" or "persuade" us to do. Students could analyze what strategies he uses that is working and make suggestions for what might improve his video. |
4. OREO- Adventure in Writing Camp This video goes along perfectly with the Kid President video because some of the lyrics literally state: If you're going to change the world, you've got to start with an opinion. The video then describes the OREO strategy. |

5. OREO Another video outlining how using OREO can help write an opinion persuasive paragraph. Who doesn't love oreos? Who wouldn't want to learn the best way to convince the teacher to eat oreos in class? It's a great way to hook students onto the idea of persuasive writing by using something interesting to the age group. |
6. Junkfood Commercials
This video shows multiple commercials aimed at children and teenagers to convince them to buy and eat their junk food. It'd be a great discussion starter about WHY it works. Students might discuss what the creators did in order to successfully persuade their audience (kids and teens). They might discuss if these commercials would be equally appealing to adults, or just kids. As a assessment option, students could brainstorm and create their own commercials to persuade their peers to buy something. |

7. Top Ten M&M Commercials Students could view these M&M commercials, analyzing what makes them so great. Why do people respond to them? Why do they work? |
8. Keep the Cavities Away Commercial This commercial demonstrates the power of a good jingle. If students are going to be creating their own persuasive commercials, this could be a good idea generator. |

9. Fact and Opinion Video Lesson This video is a great video that could be incorporating in a "flipped classroom" style. The video instructs students about the difference between fact and opinion in order to prepare students for opinion writing. The video is interactive and asks students to follow along with note-taking in their notebooks, and even answering questions. |
